How to Set Up 360 Sync with Egnyte and Create Syncing Projects

If you're juggling project files between platforms like Autodesk Construction Cloud and Egnyte, manual uploads are a bottleneck you don’t need. That’s where 360 Sync comes in—a tool that automatically syncs your files across platforms so your teams always have the most up-to-date information, without the busywork.

Recently, 360 Sync introduced a new integration with Egnyte’s API. This upgrade removes the need for desktop clients, boosts reliability, and lets you automate file transfers both ways—Egnyte to Autodesk and back.

In this blog, we’ll walk you through:

  • How to connect Egnyte to 360 Sync using the new API method

  • How to create a syncing project to manage file flow

  • How to schedule your syncs and verify everything's running smoothly

Why Use Egnyte with 360 Sync?

Previously, users needed to install the Egnyte desktop client on the same machine as 360 Sync. But now, thanks to the new API connection, you can:

  • Skip the desktop client altogether

  • Improve reliability, speed, and security

  • Avoid taking up local hard disk space with file downloads

So let’s get into the Steps on How to Set up 360 Sync with Egnyte and Create Syncing Projects...

Step 1: Connect Egnyte to 360 Sync

Getting started is simple:

1. Open 360 Sync and go to the Connections tab.
2. Click Add Connection and select Egnyte from the dropdown.
3. Enter a name for the connection (e.g., “Egnyte - Project Docs”).
4. Fill in your username and your subdomain (e.g., app for evolveMep).
5. Hit Connect, log in with your password, and allow access

That’s it—you’re connected.

Step 2: Create a Project That Syncs Files Now that you’re connected to Egnyte, it’s time to create a project in 360 Sync to manage your file syncing.

🔄 Sync From Egnyte to Autodesk

1. Go to the Projects tab and click Add Project.
2. Name your project (e.g., “Egnyte Demo”) and hit Save
3. Choose the shared folder in Egnyte you want to pull files from.
4. Select the folders to sync (e.g., Sheets).
5. Choose your Autodesk project and tool (e.g., Documents or Sheets).
6. Name the mapping (e.g., “Egnyte to ACC Sheets”) and hit Save

🔁 Sync From Autodesk to Egnyte

You can also push files back to Egnyte:
1. Create a folder in Egnyte (e.g., RFIs).
2. Set up a new mapping: select the RFIs from Autodesk and sync them into the new Egnyte folder.
3. Name the mapping (e.g., “Autodesk RFIs to Egnyte”) and save.

Step 3: Automate It with a Schedule

360 Sync can run on demand, or on a schedule:

1. Choose days and times for syncing
2. Set it to run multiple times per day
3. Enable “Run as specific user” to sync even when you're not logged in

Once scheduled, 360 Sync will automatically copy files in both directions. You can always review logs and verify everything synced correctly.

Final Check: Confirm Your Files Synced

After the sync runs, head to your Egnyte folders and open the files (like RFIs) to confirm they were transferred successfully.

That’s it! With just a few clicks, your files are now seamlessly syncing between Autodesk and Egnyte—no desktop client, no manual uploads, just smooth automation.
