1. From 60 Hangers to 10: Smarter Prefab BOMs

Instead of manually creating dozens of custom hangers, you can set up a preset library of 10 standard hangers. Then:

Use Renumber to label them,

Part Encoder to assign SKUs, and

Reports to produce a BOM.

This workflow reduces complexity and can even replace spool sheets—turning prefab into a schedule-driven operation to promote productization within your company.

 

2. Conduit Fill Percent Made Simple

By combining the Conduit Run Schedule + Data Tables + Parameter Sync, teams can quickly calculate and display fill percent as an element parameter. This saves time while ensuring compliance and QAQC visibility.

 

3. Elevations on Autopilot

Custom elevations (like bottom-of-strut values on hangers) can be generated using Parameter Sync with PowerShell, eliminating manual entry and improving accuracy.

 

4. Context-Rich Parameters for Field Visibility

Need better device context in your model? Use Parameter Sync with PowerShell to add [Room Id – Room Name – Device Name] as a single element parameter for cleaner tagging and scheduling.

Exported to Navis with the correct material color

Populated that info into Point Manager for easy field interpretation

Too many populated parameters can slow uploads into Autodesk Assemble and clutter field tablets. A customer asked for a way to remove all but one essential parameter (LBS_Id).

Saves 2–3 hours of upload time, plus countless hours of scrolling

 

13. Building Custom Reports the Right Way

Reports tie nearly every EVOLVE feature together. A practical workflow is:

Select model elements and run Compare Data to view parameters

Build a Data Profile to define categories & constraints

Use Find Elements to query, sort, filter, and cross-check the model

Refine groupings, then move into Report Designer

Bonus: Leverage Data Tables, dock panes, or PowerShell + Parameter Sync to enrich your data before reporting

This flexible workflow allows customers to continually refine reports as their needs evolve.

 

14. Spool Sheets in Six Steps

Another frequent request: spool setup automation. Using EVOLVE Utilities, the workflow looks like this:

Set up/edit a title block with the needed views

Apply view templates

Load sheet templates

Use Define Spool to select parts

Open Prefab Manager → generate sheets
