Role Overview
The Sales Development Representative (SDR) is responsible for generating qualified sales opportunities for the Account Executive (AE) team by engaging with both inbound and outbound prospects. This role serves as the first point of contact for potential customers, identifying business needs, educating prospects on the company's SaaS solutions, and scheduling high-quality discovery meetings for Account Executives. The ideal candidate is highly motivated, customer-focused, and driven to exceed activity and pipeline generation goals in a fast-paced sales environment.
Key Responsibilities
Inbound Lead Management
Respond promptly to inbound leads generated through marketing campaigns, website inquiries, events, referrals, and other channels.
Conduct discovery conversations to understand prospect needs, challenges, and business objectives.
Qualify leads using established qualification frameworks (e.g., BANT, MEDDIC, or company-defined criteria).
Schedule qualified meetings and product demonstrations for Account Executives.
Maintain accurate records of prospect interactions and qualification details within the CRM system.
Outbound Prospecting
Identify and engage target prospects through cold calling, email outreach, social selling, and other prospecting channels.
Research companies and decision-makers to develop targeted outreach strategies.
Generate new sales opportunities by securing meetings with qualified prospects.
Execute outbound campaigns designed to increase pipeline and revenue growth.
Consistently meet or exceed daily, weekly, and monthly activity goals.
Pipeline Development & Collaboration
Partner closely with Account Executives to ensure smooth handoff of qualified opportunities.
Collaborate with Marketing to provide feedback on lead quality and campaign effectiveness.
Follow up persistently with prospects through multiple touchpoints and communication channels.
Maintain a strong understanding of the company's products, services, industry trends, and competitive landscape.
Participate in sales training, coaching sessions, and team meetings to continuously improve performance.
Performance & Reporting
Meet or exceed key performance indicators (KPIs) including calls, emails, conversations, meetings set, and pipeline generated.
Accurately track all prospecting activities and outcomes within CRM and sales engagement platforms.
Provide regular updates on prospect feedback, market trends, and competitive intelligence.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent professional experience.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Comfortable making a high volume of outbound calls and engaging with prospects over the phone.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and resilient in handling objections and rejection.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in SaaS, technology, or B2B sales environments.
1+ years of experience in sales, business development, customer service, or a related field preferred.
Familiarity with sales engagement tools such as Outreach, Salesloft, Apollo, or similar platforms.
Understanding of modern sales methodologies and qualification frameworks.
Success Metrics
Qualified meetings scheduled for Account Executives.
Conversion rate from lead to qualified opportunity.
Outbound activity volume and effectiveness.
Pipeline contribution and revenue influence.
CRM data quality and activity compliance.
